Content Producer

The e.tv Content Producer’s role is to work closely with the marketing team to create content – written, video and photos – for e.tv shows, that will be published on the e.tv digital properties

1.FOLLOW THE DIARY AS SET BY THE E.TV and OPEN VIEW EDITOR
-Taking direction from the e.tv & Openview Editor on what show content should be covered on a daily basis. This will be based on the shows and discussions held with relevant show marketing specialists.
-Making sure that the diary is followed closely and methodically. Content should be produced and submitted for publishing according to deadlines set by the e.tv & Openview Editor.
-Changes to the diary should be accommodated for and the Content Producer should be able to deal with those changes efficiently.
-Any changes to the diary must be communicated to the e.tv & Openview Editor as soon as they are made.
-Weekly briefs should be sent to Graphics staff by 1pm on Mondays.
-Content Producers must watch every episode sent to them in order to properly plan their diary.

2.WRITING UP EDITORIALLY SOUND COPY
-Copy for social media and the website must be written according to the e.tv & Openview Style Guide.
-Copy must be flawless in terms of spelling and grammar.
-Copy should adhere to the basic principles of journalism and include right of reply where necessary.
-Copy should adhere to legal and ethical journalism principles.
-Headlines and all other copy must take Search Engine Optimisation into account.
-Copy should include hyperlinks to previous stories.
-Copy should include embedded posts from Twitter, Facebook or Instagram where possible.
-Copy should be accompanied by photos and video content that are relevant to a particular story.
-The Content Producer must plan stories throughout the shift and prepare copy ahead of broadcast, so as to publish according to deadlines.

3.EDITING AND UPLOADING VIDEO CONTENT
-Uploading e Catch Up videos and other show content immediately after the relevant show has ended.
-Uploading show promos to the e.tv / Openview websites and Social Media platforms on a weekly basis as set out in the diary.
-Editing captioned video content for shows as set out in the diary and publish on the social media platforms.
-Ensuring video content is attached to the relevant copy published on e.tv / Openview website.
-Ensuring that there are no technical problems with the video content loaded to the website and social media and alert relevant people to fix this as soon as the problem is identified.

4.PUBLISHING GRAPHICS RELATED TO SHOWS
-Sourcing correct images for daily graphics for e.tv / Openview shows.
-Sending a detailed brief to the graphics team to create graphics for shows by 1pm on Monday.
-The brief should include the following:
1.The correct images
2.Well-written copy which has been subbed by the e.tv & Openview Editor
3.Correct logos
4.Correct broadcast times.
-Checking all graphics for accuracy before publishing to e.tv / Openview website and / or social media platforms.

5.SOCIAL MEDIA
-Creating original posts that will be scheduled by the e.tv & Openview editor
-Ensuring that the posts are editorially sound and engaging – focusing on the key drama element of the show.
-Ensuring that the posts are given to the e.tv & Openview Editor by the set deadline.
-Engaging with viewers on social media while the Content Producer’s allocated show is live on air.
-Community management for the e.tv social media accounts

6.CUSTOMER CARE
-For Openview.co.za, the Content Producer will be expected to respond to questions from viewers or customers on Facebook, regarding the product.
-Should they not be able to answer the questions, they should direct the customer to someone who should be able to answer the question.

7.ATTENDING MARKETING EVENTS
-e.tv and Openview Content Producers may be expected to attend marketing events, relevant to their shows and/or the e.tv and Openview brand.
-Some of these events may take place after hours and may require travel
-Content Producers will be expected to produce content for social media and for the website at these events by the deadline set by the Web Editor.

8.AD HOC PROJECTS
-Projects related to e.tv online and marketing as required

A relevant qualification in Journalism
A minimum of 2 years experience working in a broadcast or online environment in a similar role.
