Assistant Programme Editor

Position reporting to the Input Editor. The key performance areas include:

1.EDITORIAL
-Leading the pre and post production meetings when required.
-Creating compelling programming for the channel.
-Creating unique content.
-Requesting show specific content.
-Creating straps and on-air information.
-Continuously driving improvements to the programme to improve audience ratings.
-Delivering a high quality of editorial output and on-air discussion that is engaging.
-Demonstrating creativity of programme creation and editorial approach.
-Managing the quality of on-air content holistically.
-Ensuring that all content is meticulously subbed to prevent errors.

2.CONTENT
-Creating content that meets our target audience’s expectations
-Writing copy that is factual, interesting and easy to digest
-Writing headlines that are punchy and in line with the open news brand
-Updating copy to reflect news updates
-Ensuring that the correct visuals
-Combing social media and news wires for new content
-Ensuring that the social media content meets editorial standard and drives our discussions forward

3.EMPLOYEE MANAGEMENT
-Motivating team to achieve organisation objectives.
-Instilling a culture of creativity.
-Coaching and mentoring of team to promote international quality of broadcasting.

Requirements

A relevant Television or Journalism qualification
A minimum of 6 years experience in a broadcast environment in a similar role.
